Indications:
PHENERGAN PLUS 100 ML is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with allergies, nausea, vomiting, and sleep disorders. It is also used to treat common cold symptoms, as it can reduce coughing and promote better sleep. The medication combines promethazine, an antihistamine, and codeine, a mild opioid, to help control symptoms.
Pharmacology:
PHENERGAN PLUS 100 ML contains two active ingredients:

Promethazine: An antihistamine that blocks histamine receptors, reducing allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and runny nose. It also has antiemetic properties, helping to relieve nausea and vomiting.

Codeine: A mild opioid that acts as a cough suppressant by affecting the brain’s cough center. It also has sedative properties, which help with sleep disorders and alleviate restlessness.
Dosage:

For allergy symptoms or nausea: 5–10 mL (or as prescribed by your doctor) every 4–6 hours.

For sleep aid or cough suppression: Follow your doctor’s prescription for the appropriate dosage based on your condition.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Administration:

Take PHENERGAN PLUS 100 ML orally as directed by your healthcare provider.

It can be taken with or without food.

Interaction:

Other sedatives or alcohol: Combining with alcohol, sedative medications, or other central nervous system depressants may increase drowsiness and impair coordination.

MAO inhibitors: Do not use with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of discontinuing them.

Other antihistamines: Can increase the risk of side effects, such as dry mouth, dizziness, or drowsiness.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to promethazine, codeine, or any component of the medication.

Use in children under 2 years old is contraindicated due to the risk of severe respiratory depression.

Lactation: Codeine can be excreted in breast milk and may cause respiratory depression in nursing infants. Consult your healthcare provider before using this medication while breastfeeding.
