Fimoxyclav 625 mg is indicated for the treatment of a broad range of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, and infections caused by susceptible bacteria. This combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid makes it effective against a wide spectrum of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Pharmacology:
Fimoxyclav 625 mg contains two active ingredients:

Amoxicillin: A beta-lactam antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to bacterial cell death.

Clavulanic Acid: A beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents certain bacteria from producing beta-lactamase enzymes which break down amoxicillin, enhancing its effectiveness against resistant strains.
Dosage:

Adults and Children (over 12 years): The usual dose is 625 mg (equivalent to 1 tablet) every 12 hours. The dosage may be adjusted depending on the severity of the infection and the doctor’s recommendation.

Children (under 12 years): The dosage depends on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection, typically 25–45 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into two doses.
Administration:

Fimoxyclav 625 mg should be taken orally with or without food.

The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. It should not be chewed or crushed.

For consistent therapeutic effect, it is recommended to take the medication at the same time each day.
