Indications:
SPERDAL 100 ML is prescribed for:
Schizophrenia: A disorder that affects thinking, perception, and behavior.
Bipolar disorder: A condition characterized by extreme mood swings, including manic and depressive episodes.
Autism-related irritability: Used in the treatment of irritability, aggression, and mood swings associated with autism spectrum disorders.
SPERDAL 100 ML helps in managing symptoms by balancing certain chemicals in the brain, including dopamine and serotonin, which play significant roles in mood, perception, and behavior.
Pharmacology:
SPERDAL 100 ML contains Risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic. Risperidone works by modulating the action of neurotransmitters in the brain, particularly dopamine and serotonin. By blocking dopamine receptors and serotonin receptors, Risperidone helps regulate mood and behavior, thus alleviating symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and autism-related irritability. It also helps reduce psychotic symptoms like hallucinations and delusions.
Dosage:
Schizophrenia: The usual dose for adults is 1 to 2 mg daily, with gradual increases as needed. The dose may go up to 6 mg per day.
Bipolar disorder: Initial dose is generally 2 mg daily, and may be adjusted by the doctor based on the patient's response.
Autism irritability: The recommended starting dose is 0.25 mg daily for children, with gradual increases as directed by the doctor.
Always follow the dosage prescribed by your doctor and do not exceed the recommended dose.
