Indications:
ORVA 20 MG is used to lower high cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia) and high triglyceride levels (hypertriglyceridemia). It is also used to prevent cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks, strokes, and other heart-related conditions, by improving lipid profile.
Pharmacology:
The active ingredient in ORVA 20 MG is Atorvastatin, which is a statin. It works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme responsible for producing cholesterol in the liver. By blocking this enzyme, Atorvastatin reduces cholesterol synthesis, leading to a decrease in the levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein), also known as “bad” cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood.
Dosage:

For cholesterol lowering: The usual starting dose is 10 to 20 mg once daily.

For high triglycerides: A typical dose is 10–20 mg per day.
The dose may be adjusted by your doctor depending on your cholesterol levels and treatment goals.
Administration:
Take ORVA 20 MG orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It is best taken at the same time each day.
Interaction:
ORVA 20 MG may interact with other medications, including:

Other cholesterol-lowering drugs (e.g., fibrates, niacin) → May increase the risk of muscle side effects.

CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., certain antifungals, antibiotics) → Can increase Atorvastatin levels in the blood.

Warfarin and other anticoagulants → May increase the risk of bleeding.
Always inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking.
Contraindications:

Active liver disease or unexplained persistent liver enzyme elevation.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy: ORVA 20 MG should not be used during pregnancy as it can harm the fetus. It is classified as a category X drug.

Lactation: Atorvastatin is excreted in breast milk, so it is not recommended for use while breastfeeding.
