Indications:
Management of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia

Pharmacology:
AVATOR contains atorvastatin, a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. It effectively lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while moderately increasing HDL cholesterol.
Dosage:
Usual dose: 10 to 20 mg once daily, can be adjusted up to 80 mg as needed
Take orally at the same time daily for best results
Administration:
Swallow tablet with water, with or without food
Maintain consistent timing for dose administration
Interaction:
Potential interactions with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin)
Grapefruit juice may increase drug levels
Monitor for muscle toxicity with concomitant use of fibrates or niacin
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin or excipients
Active liver disease or unexplained elevated liver enzymes
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Side Effects:
Common: headache, muscle cramps, gastrointestinal upset
Serious: rhabdomyolysis, liver enzyme elevation, allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation due to risk to fetus and infant
Precautions & Warnings:
Periodic liver function and muscle enzyme monitoring advised
Report any unexplained muscle pain or weakness
Avoid excessive alcohol intake
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
