Indications:
PANDURA is indicated for the treatment of panic disorder, anxiety, and seizure disorders including absence seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.
Pharmacology:
Clonazepam enhances the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that suppresses neural activity, producing a calming effect on the brain.
Dosage:
The dosage should be individualized. Adults typically start with 0.25 mg twice daily and gradually increased to 0.5–1 mg/day. Pediatric or elderly doses should be determined by a physician.
Administration:
Oral administration, with or without food. Should be taken at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
Interaction:
Clonazepam may interact with CNS depressants, alcohol, antiepileptics, antidepressants, and antihistamines, enhancing sedative effects.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma, severe liver impairment, or hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, and coordination issues. Serious effects may include depression, suicidal thoughts, or respiratory depression.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Clonazepam can pass into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid alcohol and activities requiring alertness. Use with caution in patients with a history of substance abuse or respiratory issues.
