Indications:
TERBISOL is indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections such as tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), candidiasis of the skin, and pityriasis (tinea) versicolor.
Pharmacology:
Terbinafine is an allylamine antifungal that inhibits the fungal enzyme squalene epoxidase, leading to ergosterol deficiency in the fungal cell membrane and causing cell death. It is fungicidal against dermatophytes and fungistatic against yeasts.
Dosage:
Apply a thin layer of the cream once or twice daily to the affected area and surrounding skin, as directed by a physician. Duration:
Tinea corporis/cruris: usually 1 week
Tinea pedis: 1–2 weeks
Candida infections: 1–2 weeks
Administration:
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area before application. Wash hands after applying unless hands are the treated area.
Interaction:
Topical Terbinafine has minimal systemic absorption; therefore, drug interactions are unlikely. Avoid using other topical agents on the same area unless advised.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Terbinafine or any of the cream’s ingredients.
Side Effects:
Mild redness, itching, or stinging at the application site may occur. Rarely, allergic rash or blistering may develop.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution in pregnancy and lactation. Although systemic absorption is minimal, always consult a physician before use.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes. Discontinue if irritation worsens. Not recommended for use on broken or inflamed skin.
Therapeutic Class:
Topical Antifungal Agents
Storage Conditions:
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children.
