Pharmacology:
DOXIVA 400 MG contains doxycycline, a tetracycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing bacterial growth and replication.
Dosage:
Adults: Usually 200-400 mg daily in divided doses, or as prescribed by the physician
Follow the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve
Administration:
Oral intake with a full glass of water
Can be taken with or without food to reduce stomach upset
Avoid lying down immediately after taking to prevent esophageal irritation
Interaction:
Avoid concomitant use with antacids, calcium, iron supplements without proper timing
Caution with blood thinners like warfarin
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to tetracycline antibiotics
Children under 8 years (risk of tooth discoloration)
