Indications:
LYRINEX 50 MG is indicated for:

Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy or postherpetic neuralgia

Fibromyalgia
-
Adjunctive therapy for adults with partial-onset seizures

Generalized anxiety disorder (in some cases)
Pharmacology:
Pregabalin is a structural derivative of GABA that binds to the α2-δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the CNS, reducing the release of several neurotransmitters including glutamate, noradrenaline, and substance P. This action leads to reduced neuronal excitability, making it effective in neuropathic pain and seizure control.
Dosage & Administration:
Initial dose: 50 mg two or three times daily.
Dosage may be increased to a maximum of 300–600 mg/day based on response and tolerability.
Administer orally, with or without food. Dose adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment.
Interaction:
May enhance the effects of CNS depressants like opioids, benzodiazepines, and alcohol. No significant pharmacokinetic interactions observed with most common drugs. Use cautiously with drugs affecting renal function.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of the formulation components.
Side Effects:
Common: Dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, weight gain, and peripheral edema.
Rare: Angioedema, mood changes, and muscle pain.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Not recommended during breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of suicidal thoughts/behavior. Use caution in patients with history of substance abuse. Sudden discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms (e.g., insomnia, headache, nausea).
