Treatment of essential hypertension
Patients who require combination therapy to achieve blood pressure targets
May be used alone or with other antihypertensive agents
Exforge F/C contains:
Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing blood pressure.
Valsartan: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents vasoconstriction and lowers blood pressure.
Together, they provide complementary mechanisms to effectively control hypertension.
One tablet daily, with or without food
Dose adjustment based on blood pressure response and tolerance
Not recommended for use in severe hepatic impairment or severe renal dysfunction without medical supervision
Caution with other antihypertensive drugs to avoid excessive hypotension
May increase potassium levels if used with potassium-sparing diuretics or supplements
Avoid concurrent use with ACE inhibitors due to risk of renal impairment and hyperkalemia
Use caution with NSAIDs, lithium, and other drugs affecting renal function
Hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or any components
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Severe hepatic impairment or biliary obstruction
Severe renal impairment without close monitoring
Common: Edema, dizziness, headache, fatigue
Less common: Palpitations, flushing, abdominal pain
Rare: Angioedema, hypotension, liver enzyme elevation
Pregnancy: Contraindicated due to risk of fetal harm
Lactation: Use is not recommended
Monitor blood pressure and kidney function regularly
Use caution in patients with heart failure or volume depletion
Avoid sudden withdrawal; dose adjustments should be gradual
