Ludiomil 25 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of depressive disorders, especially those associated with anxiety
Endogenous depression
Neurotic depression
Dysthymia and other chronic mood disorders
Ludiomil contains Maprotiline, a tetracyclic antidepressant. It inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and, to a lesser extent, serotonin, thereby increasing their levels in the central nervous system. This results in mood elevation and anxiety reduction.
Adults: Initial dose is 25–75 mg per day; maintenance dose ranges from 75–150 mg per day, usually in divided doses or as a single dose at night.
Elderly: Lower initial dose (25 mg), adjusted cautiously based on response.
Not recommended for use in children unless directed by a specialist.
Risk of CNS depression increases when used with alcohol, sedatives, or other CNS depressants.
Should not be used with MAO inhibitors due to risk of serious interactions.
May interact with SSRIs, increasing the risk of serotonin syndrome.
May enhance effects of anticholinergic and sympathomimetic drugs.
Hypersensitivity to Maprotiline or other tricyclic antidepressants
Recent myocardial infarction
Seizure disorders
Severe liver or kidney impairment
Use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
Common: Dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, blurred vision
Less common: Weight gain, urinary retention, low blood pressure
Rare: Seizures, cardiac arrhythmias, blood disorders
Pregnancy: Should be used only if clearly needed; potential risk to fetus exists
Lactation: Maprotiline may pass into breast milk; not recommended unless advised by a doctor
Increased risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in young adults
Use cautiously in patients with heart disease, glaucoma, or seizure history
Avoid abrupt discontinuation—taper dose gradually
Periodic liver function and blood count monitoring may be necessary during prolonged use
Tetracyclic (Tricyclic-like) Antidepressants
