Rispolux 1mg is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and adolescents, acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder in children and adolescents.
Rispolux contains Risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic that acts as a dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2 receptor antagonist. It helps restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain, thereby improving thought, mood, and behavior. It also has some affinity for adrenergic and histaminergic receptors.
Schizophrenia (adults): Starting dose 1 mg twice daily; may be adjusted based on response
Bipolar disorder: Start with 2–3 mg once daily
Autism-related irritability: Dosing based on body weight and age
Can be taken with or without food
Swallow tablet whole with water
May interact with CNS depressants (e.g., alcohol, opioids)
CYP2D6 inhibitors may increase risperidone levels
Use caution with antihypertensives, as it may enhance hypotensive effects
Avoid combination with levodopa
Hypersensitivity to risperidone or any excipients
Severe CNS depression
Caution in patients with Parkinson's disease or dementia-related psychosis
Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, weight gain, anxiety, fatigue
Serious: Extrapyramidal symptoms, tardive dyskinesia, increased prolactin, neuroleptic malignant syndrome
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy
Risperidone is excreted in breast milk; breastfeeding is not recommended during therapy
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, seizures, or diabetes
Monitor for suicidal thoughts and unusual behavioral changes
Periodically monitor weight, blood glucose, and lipids
Caution while operating machinery or driving
