Indications:
VOLTALIN D 46.5 is indicated for:
Rheumatoid arthritis
Osteoarthritis
Chronic inflammatory conditions
Patients requiring long-term NSAID treatment with risk of gastric ulceration
Pharmacology:
This combination contains:
Diclofenac sodium: A potent NSAID that reduces inflammation and pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis via COX enzyme inhibition.
Misoprostol: A prostaglandin analog that helps protect the gastric mucosa and prevents NSAID-induced gastric ulcers.
Dosage:
One tablet (46.5 mg) two to three times daily depending on the patient's condition and physician’s advice.
Administration:
Take orally with meals. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, antihypertensives, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and diuretics.
Avoid concurrent use with alcohol or drugs that increase GI bleeding risk.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or misoprostol
Pregnancy (misoprostol can cause abortion)
History of peptic ulcers or GI bleeding
Severe liver or renal impairment
Inflammatory bowel disease
Side Effects:
Common: abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence
Serious: GI bleeding, allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, uterine contractions (in pregnancy)
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Misoprostol can induce labor and miscarriage. Avoid use in women of childbearing age unless effective contraception is used. Use during lactation only if absolutely necessary.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver and kidney function in long-term use
Avoid in patients with cardiovascular disease history
Should not be used for minor or short-term pain conditions
Caution in elderly and dehydrated patients
