Indications:
SEROLUX 25 MG is used in the initial treatment of major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and OCD, allowing gradual dose escalation.
Pharmacology:
Contains sertraline hydrochloride, an SSRI that increases serotonin levels in the brain by inhibiting its reuptake, improving mood and reducing anxiety.
Dosage:
Typically prescribed as a starting dose of 25 mg once daily, gradually increased to therapeutic doses (50-200 mg) under physician supervision.
Administration:
Take orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole.
Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, other SSRIs, triptans, anticoagulants, and CNS depressants. Always inform your doctor about all medications.
Contraindications:
Not to be used with MAO inhibitors or in patients hypersensitive to sertraline.
Side Effects:
Nausea, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, and mild gastrointestinal upset are common. Rare risk of serotonin syndrome.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits justify risks during pregnancy. Caution during breastfeeding as sertraline passes into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for increased suicidal thoughts especially at treatment start.
Avoid sudden discontinuation; taper gradually.
May cause hyponatremia in elderly or dehydrated patients.
