Indications:
SERVIPEP 20 MG is indicated for treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastric and duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and other acid-related disorders.
Pharmacology:
Contains pantoprazole sodium, a proton pump inhibitor that irreversibly blocks H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion.
Dosage:
Usually prescribed as 20 mg once daily, taken 30 to 60 minutes before a meal, dosage may vary based on condition and physician advice.
Administration:
Swallow the tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food, preferably before meals.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs like digoxin, ketoconazole, warfarin, and atazanavir. Inform your doctor about all medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to pantoprazole or other proton pump inhibitors.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and dizziness. Rarely may cause vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Limited data on safety during breastfeeding; consult your doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Long-term use may increase risk of bone fractures and infections like C. difficile.
Monitor magnesium levels during prolonged therapy.
