Indications:
Sandocal-D is indicated for prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency states such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, hypocalcemia, and for bone health support.
Pharmacology:
Contains Calcium carbonate (500 mg elemental calcium) and Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3, 200 IU). Calcium is essential for bone mineralization, and Vitamin D3 enhances intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus.
Dosage:
Usually 1-2 tablets daily or as prescribed by the physician depending on individual calcium requirements.
Administration:
Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably after meals for better absorption.
Interaction:
May interact with certain antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines), bisphosphonates, thyroid hormones, and some diuretics. Separate dosing times as advised by your doctor.
Contraindications:
Hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, nephrolithiasis, and known hypersensitivity to any component.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include constipation, gastrointestinal discomfort, hypercalcemia (rare), and allergic reactions (rare).
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used as recommended.
