Indications:
SEROLUX 50 MG is prescribed for major depressive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Pharmacology:
Contains sertraline hydrochloride, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that enhances serotonin levels in the brain, improving mood and reducing anxiety.
Dosage:
Typical dose is 50 mg once daily; dosage may be adjusted by the physician depending on patient response, up to 200 mg daily.
Administration:
Take orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole.
Interaction:
Avoid concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), other SSRIs, anticoagulants, and CNS depressants. Inform physician of all medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sertraline or concomitant use of MAOIs.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, insomnia, dizziness, dry mouth, sexual dysfunction, and headache. Rarely, serotonin syndrome may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits justify risks during pregnancy. Caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal ideation, especially at treatment initiation.

Avoid abrupt discontinuation; taper dose gradually.

May cause hyponatremia, especially in elderly patients.
