Indications:
Ace 500 mg Suppository is indicated for:
Fever (including post-vaccination fever)
Mild to moderate pain (headache, toothache, muscle ache)
Ideal for pediatric or adult patients unable to take oral medication
Pharmacology:
Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) is an analgesic and antipyretic agent. It works centrally in the brain to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, lowering fever and relieving pain. Unlike NSAIDs, it has minimal anti-inflammatory action.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children over 12 years: 500–1000 mg rectally every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 4 g/day.
Insert the suppository rectally with the pointed end first. Wash hands before and after use.
Interaction:
May enhance the effects of warfarin with long-term use.
Alcohol and other hepatotoxic drugs may increase the risk of liver damage.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Paracetamol
Severe hepatic impairment
Side Effects:
Generally well tolerated. Rare side effects include:
Local irritation at insertion site
Allergic reactions (rash, itching)
Hepatotoxicity with overdose
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered safe in recommended doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid exceeding the recommended dose.
Use caution in patients with liver disease or chronic alcohol use.
Not for long-term use unless advised by a physician.
