Indications:
Comprid is indicated for:
Prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with recent myocardial infarction, stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease
Secondary prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke
Used in combination with aspirin in acute coronary syndrome and after certain cardiac procedures like stenting
Pharmacology:
Clopidogrel is a thienopyridine class antiplatelet agent that irreversibly inhibits the P2Y12 component of ADP receptors on platelet surfaces, preventing platelet aggregation and thrombus formation.
Dosage & Administration:
Typical dose: 75-80 mg once daily orally
Can be taken with or without food
Compliance with full prescribed course is essential for efficacy
Interaction:
Increased bleeding risk with anticoagulants, NSAIDs, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)
Proton pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole) may reduce Clopidogrel effectiveness
Caution with other antiplatelet or thrombolytic agents
Contraindications:
Active pathological bleeding (e.g., peptic ulcer, intracranial hemorrhage)
