Indications:
Bisocor is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), stable chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (in combination with ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and other heart failure therapies), and angina pectoris (chest pain due to heart disease).

Pharmacology:
Bisoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It decreases heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure by inhibiting sympathetic stimulation. It reduces the workload on the heart and improves symptoms in heart failure and angina.

Dosage & Administration:

Hypertension & Angina: Usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily; may be adjusted between 2.5–10 mg per day based on response.
Heart Failure: Start at 1.25 mg once daily and titrate upward slowly under supervision.
Take in the morning, with or without food. Swallow whole with water.

Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensives, calcium channel blockers (e.g., verapamil, diltiazem), insulin or oral hypoglycemics, digoxin, and CNS depressants. Avoid combining with other beta-blockers.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock, overt heart failure not under control, significant bradycardia, second- or third-degree AV block, and known hypersensitivity to Bisoprolol.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include fatigue, bradycardia (slow heart rate), dizziness, cold extremities, and headache. Rarely may cause depression, sleep disorders, or bronchospasm.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Bisoprolol may reduce placental perfusion. Use during lactation is not recommended unless necessary, as it may pass into breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with asthma, diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia), renal or hepatic impairment. Do not stop abruptly — taper gradually to avoid rebound hypertension or arrhythmia.
