Imotil 2 mg is indicated for:
Relief of nausea and vomiting from various causes
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms
Delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis)
To facilitate gastric motility and prevent gastric stasis
Domperidone is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist that enhances gastrointestinal motility by increasing the movement of stomach and intestinal muscles, and also has antiemetic properties by blocking dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone.
As prescribed by a registered physician.
Typical dose: 10 mg three times daily, 15–30 minutes before meals.
Take orally with a glass of water before meals. Do not exceed prescribed dose.
May interact with medications that prolong QT interval (e.g., certain antiarrhythmics, antipsychotics)
Avoid combination with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin)
Caution when combined with other dopamine antagonists
Hypersensitivity to Domperidone
Prolactinoma or hormone-sensitive tumors
Gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation
Patients with cardiac arrhythmias or prolonged QT interval
Common: Dry mouth, abdominal cramps, diarrhea
Less common: Dizziness, headache, galactorrhea, breast tenderness
Rare: Cardiac arrhythmias, extrapyramidal symptoms
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Consult physician before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Monitor cardiac function in patients at risk
Avoid in patients with known QT prolongation or electrolyte disturbances
Report any symptoms of irregular heartbeat immediately
Antiemetics and prokinetics
Store below 25°C in a dry, dark place. Keep out of reach of children.
