Indications:
Angilock Plus is indicated for:
Management of essential hypertension, especially in patients not adequately controlled with monotherapy
Reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke or heart attack in hypertensive patients
Pharmacology:
Losartan Potassium: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, thereby lowering blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide: A thiazide diuretic that increases urine output by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal tubule, reducing blood volume and pressure.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: One tablet once daily, preferably in the morning.
Dose may be adjusted based on patient’s clinical response.
Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with lithium, NSAIDs, potassium supplements, and other antihypertensive drugs.
Risk of hypokalemia or hyperkalemia when combined with other agents affecting potassium levels.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Losartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or sulfonamide derivatives
Anuria
Severe renal or hepatic impairment
Pregnancy
Side Effects:
Dizziness, fatigue, headache
Hypotension, electrolyte imbalance (e.g., low potassium)
Increased uric acid levels (gout)
Rare: rash, photosensitivity, angioedema
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Should not be used in lactating women unless absolutely necessary and prescribed.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and serum electrolytes regularly
Caution in patients with renal artery stenosis, heart failure, diabetes, or gout
Avoid alcohol and potassium-rich supplements without medical advice
