Indications:
Entacyd® Plus is indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity, heartburn, sour stomach, indigestion, gastric bloating, and flatulence. It is also used for the management of peptic ulcers and gastritis as an adjunct therapy.

Pharmacology:
Entacyd Plus contains:

  • Aluminum Hydroxide (400 mg): A slow-acting antacid that neutralizes stomach acid and provides a protective coating in the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Magnesium Hydroxide (400 mg): A fast-acting antacid with laxative properties that balances the constipating effect of aluminum salts.

  • Simethicone (30 mg): An anti-foaming agent that reduces bloating and discomfort caused by gas.

These agents work synergistically to provide rapid and long-lasting relief from gastric acidity and gas-related discomfort.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Adults: 1–2 tablets to be chewed thoroughly 1 hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician.

  • Maximum dosage: Should not exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours unless prescribed.

  • Children: As prescribed by the physician.

Interaction:
May interact with tetracyclines, quinolones, iron salts, and some antifungal agents by affecting their absorption. Advise spacing administration times by 2 hours.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to any component

  • Severe renal impairment

  • Low blood phosphate levels (hypophosphatemia)

Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects include constipation (from aluminum), diarrhea (from magnesium), and rarely, allergic reactions or electrolyte imbalance with prolonged use.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered relatively safe if used occasionally in recommended doses. Prolonged or high-dose use should be avoided during pregnancy or lactation without physician advice.
