Indications:
Nebita 5 mg is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and for mild to moderate chronic heart failure in adults aged 70 years or older, in addition to standard therapies.
Pharmacology:
Nebivolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker with vasodilating properties mediated through nitric oxide release. It reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility, resulting in lower blood pressure and decreased cardiac workload.
Dosage & Administration:
Hypertension: 5 mg once daily, taken at the same time each day.
Heart failure: Start with 1.25 mg daily, gradually increased to 5 mg/day based on patient tolerance.
Dose adjustment may be required in elderly or patients with renal/hepatic impairment.
Administer orally, with or without food.
Interaction:
Potentiates effects of other antihypertensives.
Risk of bradycardia with calcium channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem).
NSAIDs may reduce antihypertensive effect.
Should not be combined with MAO inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Severe bradycardia
Cardiogenic shock or acute heart failure
Second or third-degree heart block
Hypersensitivity to Nebivolol
Severe liver dysfunction
Side Effects:
Fatigue, dizziness, headache
Bradycardia, hypotension
Gastrointestinal disturbances
Edema (especially in heart failure)
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Beta-blockers may affect fetal development. Use with caution during breastfeeding, as small amounts of the drug may be excreted in breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor heart rate, blood pressure, and renal function regularly
Use cautiously in patients with bronchospasm, diabetes, or thyroid disorders
Do not abruptly stop therapy; taper dose when discontinuing
Avoid in hepatic failure patients
Therapeutic Class:
Cardioselective beta-blockers
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
