Indications:
Famotack is indicated for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Pharmacology:
Famotidine is a selective histamine H2-receptor antagonist that inhibits gastric acid secretion by blocking H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is 20 mg twice daily or as directed by a physician. Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids and other drugs that affect gastric pH.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Famotidine or other H2 blockers.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, constipation, and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity and kidney function during prolonged use.
