Indications:
ROSUVA is indicated for:
Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol levels)
Prevention of cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients
Mixed dyslipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis in the liver, resulting in decreased LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and increased HDL cholesterol.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Usually start with 5 mg once daily, may be adjusted up to 40 mg based on response.
Take at any time of day, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with other lipid-lowering agents, cyclosporine, warfarin, and certain antivirals.
Avoid grapefruit juice during therapy.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevated liver enzymes
Pregnancy and lactation
Side Effects:
Headache, muscle pain, nausea
Rare but serious: rhabdomyolysis, liver enzyme abnormalities
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function tests periodically
Advise patients to report unexplained muscle pain or weakness
Use cautiously in renal impairment
