Indications:
Amodis is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination therapy).
Pharmacology:
Amodis contains Amoxicillin, a beta-lactam antibiotic belonging to the penicillin group. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis and death of susceptible bacteria.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 250 mg to 500 mg every 8 hours or 500 mg to 875 mg every 12 hours, depending on the severity and type of infection.
Can be taken orally with or without food.
Dose adjustment needed in renal impairment.
Interaction:
May interact with allopurinol (increased risk of rash), oral anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk), and bacteriostatic antibiotics (may reduce efficacy).
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, penicillins, or any beta-lactam antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, and allergic reactions. Rarely, severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used as directed.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity or superinfection.
Use with caution in patients with history of penicillin allergy.
Adjust dose in patients with renal impairment.
