Indications:
Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, and as calcium supplementation during pregnancy, lactation, and postmenopausal period.
Pharmacology:
Calcium Carbonate provides elemental calcium essential for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscles, and bones. When the diet does not provide enough calcium, the body takes calcium from bones, thereby weakening them. Calbo supplements the calcium requirement.
Dosage:
Adults: 1–2 tablets daily, preferably after meals or as directed by the physician.
Children: As advised by the physician.
Administration:
Oral administration with water, ideally after food to enhance absorption.
Interaction:
Calcium may interfere with the absorption of tetracyclines, bisphosphonates, and levothyroxine. Take these medications at least 2 hours apart.
Contraindications:
Hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, severe renal impairment, nephrolithiasis, and hypersensitivity to any ingredient.
Side Effects:
May cause mild gastrointestinal symptoms like constipation, bloating, or gas. Prolonged high dose may cause hypercalcemia.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe during pregnancy and lactation when used as directed. Excessive doses should be avoided.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid overdose. Monitor serum calcium levels in long-term use, especially in renal impairment.
