Description
Acos 500 mg Tablet is an antibiotic medication containing Azithromycin Dihydrate 500 mg, manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is part of the macrolide class of antibiotics and is commonly used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media (middle ear infections), and sexually transmitted infections like non-gonococcal urethritis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Azithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing bacterial growth. The typical dosage for adults is 500 mg once daily for 3 days or a 5-day regimen starting with 500 mg on day 1, followed by 250 mg daily. For children, the dosage is generally 10 mg/kg body weight. Common side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort, with more severe reactions being rare. This medication should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals for optimal absorption.
