Febout 80 mg Tablet contains Febuxostat, a selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to manage chronic hyperuricemia associated with gout. By inhibiting xanthine oxidase, Febuxostat reduces the production of uric acid, thereby preventing the formation of uric acid crystals that can lead to painful gout attacks. It is indicated for the long-term treatment of gout and is typically prescribed when other medications, such as allopurinol, are not suitable or effective. The usual starting dose is 40 mg once daily, which may be increased to 80 mg daily after two weeks if serum uric acid levels remain above the target of 6 mg/dL. Febout can be taken with or without food and should be swallowed whole. Common side effects include nausea, skin rash, liver function abnormalities, joint pain, and gout flare-ups, especially during the initial phase of treatment. Patients may be advised to take additional medications, such as colchicine or NSAIDs, to prevent flare-ups during the early stages of therapy. Caution is advised in individuals with a history of heart disease, liver or kidney disorders, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Regular monitoring of liver function and uric acid levels is recommended during treatment. Febout 80 mg Tablet is manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and is available in Bangladesh.
