Description
Fastel 120 mg Tablet contains Fexofenadine Hydrochloride, a second-generation antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic conditions. It is indicated for the treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as chronic idiopathic urticaria, in adults and children aged 12 years and older. Fexofenadine works by selectively blocking peripheral H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the throat or nose . Unlike first-generation antihistamines, Fexofenadine does not cross the blood-brain barrier, minimizing the risk of sedation and drowsiness. The recommended dosage for adults and children over 12 years is 120 mg once daily. It should be taken with water on an empty stomach, and the use of fruit juices like grapefruit, orange, or apple juice should be avoided, as they may reduce the drug's effectiveness . Common side effects include headache, dizziness, and nausea. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, and the medication is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine or any of its components .
