Description
Spilac-F 20/50 mg is a combination tablet containing two diuretics: furosemide and spironolactone. Furosemide is a loop diuretic that inhibits sodium, potassium, and chloride reabsorption in the ascending loop of Henle, leading to increased urine output and reduced fluid retention. Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic that antagonizes aldosterone at the distal tubule, promoting sodium excretion while conserving potassium. This combination is used to manage conditions like essential hypertension, chronic congestive heart failure, ascites due to liver cirrhosis, edema, and hyperaldosteronism. The synergistic effects of these medications help reduce fluid buildup and maintain electrolyte balance.
