Dormicum 7.5 mg Tablet is a sedative-hypnotic medication containing Midazolam, a benzodiazepine that acts on the central nervous system. It enhances the effects of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that inhibits brain activity, leading to sedation, muscle relaxation, and induction of sleep. Dormicum is primarily used for the short-term treatment of insomnia and as a premedication before surgical or diagnostic procedures to induce sedation. The typical adult dosage ranges from 7.5 to 15 mg per day, taken orally before bedtime. In elderly or debilitated patients, the recommended dose is 7.5 mg daily. The medication should be used for the shortest duration necessary, generally not exceeding two weeks, unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider. Common side effects include drowsiness, confusion, fatigue, headache, and muscle weakness, which often subside with continued use. Dormicum should be avoided in individuals with severe respiratory or liver insufficiency, myasthenia gravis, sleep apnea syndrome, or known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless no safer alternatives are available. Overdose may lead to coma, respiratory depression, and hypotension, and can be managed with the benzodiazepine antagonist flumazenil
