Description
Sevitan 40 mg Tablet is an antihypertensive medication manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing the active ingredient Olmesartan Medoxomil. Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the AT₁ receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. This action helps to lower blood pressure in individuals with hypertension. Sevitan 40 mg Tablet is typically prescribed for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults and may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. The usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily, which may be increased to 40 mg after 2 weeks if necessary. Doses above 40 mg do not appear to provide additional benefit. The tablet can be taken with or without food. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
