Innocan 50 mg Capsule is an antifungal medication manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. The active ingredient, Fluconazole, is a triazole antifungal agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This action disrupts the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, leading to cell death. Fluconazole is effective against a wide range of fungal infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis, systemic candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, and dermatophyte infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and pityriasis versicolor. The typical adult dosage varies depending on the type and severity of the infection; for example, a single 150 mg dose is used for vaginal candidiasis, while systemic infections may require daily doses ranging from 50 mg to 400 mg. In pediatric patients, the dosage is adjusted based on body weight and the specific infection being treated. Common side effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and skin rash. Fluconazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or other azole antifungals.
