🔸 Indications:

Radimet XR 500 mg is indicated for:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Ankylosing spondylitis

  • Acute musculoskeletal injuries and soft tissue inflammation

  • Pain and inflammation associated with dental and post-operative procedures


🔸 Pharmacology:

Radimet contains Diclofenac Sodium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis, thereby decreasing inflammation, pain, and fever.


🔸 Dosage:

  • Adults: 1 tablet once or twice daily depending on severity and physician’s prescription

  • Maximum dose should not exceed 150 mg per day (for XR formulations, usually once daily 100-150 mg)

  • Dose adjustment required in elderly or patients with hepatic/renal impairment


🔸 Administration:

Take orally with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Swallow whole, do not crush or chew XR tablets.


🔸 Interaction:

  • May increase risk of bleeding with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin)

  • Caution with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and SSRIs due to GI bleeding risk

  • May reduce effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs (e.g., ACE inhibitors)


🔸 Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs

  • History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic reactions after NSAID use

  • Active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Severe heart failure, liver or kidney disease


🔸 Side Effects:

  • Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dyspepsia

  • Abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation

  • Headache, dizziness

  • Rare but serious: GI bleeding, ulceration, cardiovascular events


🔸 Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Contraindicated in third trimester of pregnancy

  • Use during first and second trimester only if clearly needed and prescribed

  • Avoid during breastfeeding unless advised by physician


🔸 Precautions & Warnings:

  • Monitor for signs of GI bleeding or ulceration

  • Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration possible

  • Caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or fluid retention

  • Avoid use in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment
