Rofixim 50 ml Suspension is an oral antibiotic manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It contains cefixime trihydrate, a third-generation cephalosporin, and is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., otitis media), lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis), urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis), and typhoid fever. Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. The usual dosage for children is 8 mg/kg/day, administered as a single dose or in two divided doses. For adults, the dosage is typically 200–400 mg daily, depending on the severity of the infection. Rofixim Suspension is generally well-tolerated, with common side effects including diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
