Description
Betabis-A 2.5 mg is a fixed-dose combination tablet containing Bisoprolol Fumarate (2.5 mg) and Amlodipine Besilate (5 mg), developed by ACME Laboratories Ltd. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who are adequately controlled with the individual components taken concurrently at the same dose level. Bisoprolol is a selective β₁-adrenergic blocker that reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility, thereby decreasing cardiac output and blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. The complementary mechanisms of action of these two drugs enhance their antihypertensive and anti-anginal efficacy. The recommended dosage is one tablet daily, with or without food. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Patients should use this medication under medical supervision to ensure its safety and efficacy.
