Medozil 14/10 is a combination medication used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It contains two active ingredients: Memantine Hydrochloride and Donepezil Hydrochloride. Memantine is an NMDA receptor antagonist that works by modulating the activity of glutamate, a neurotransmitter in the brain that, in excessive amounts, can contribute to neuronal damage in Alzheimer's disease. Donepezil, on the other hand, is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that increases the levels of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory and cognitive function, by inhibiting its breakdown. By combining these two mechanisms, Medozil helps improve cognitive function and slows the progression of Alzheimer's disease. It is usually taken once daily, and the dosage can be adjusted based on the patient’s response. Side effects may include headache, nausea, dizziness, and gastrointestinal issues. Caution is advised in patients with certain heart conditions.
