Indications:
MONAS is indicated for:
Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma
Relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
Pharmacology:
Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks the effects of leukotrienes, substances involved in airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and mucus production.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children over 15 years: 10 mg once daily in the evening.
For children aged 6-14 years: 5 mg once daily.
Take orally with or without food.
Interaction:
Minimal drug interactions; caution advised when used with phenobarbital which may reduce Montelukast levels.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any formulation components.
Side Effects:
Headache, abdominal pain, cough
Rare: mood changes, allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed; consult healthcare provider before use.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not for acute asthma attacks
Monitor for changes in mood or behavior
Do not stop other asthma medications without doctor’s advice
