Elodep 5 mg, manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd., contains 5 mg of escitalopram oxalate per tablet. It is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia), and social anxiety disorder. The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily, which may be increased to a maximum of 20 mg daily after at least one week, depending on individual response. Elderly patients and those with hepatic impairment may require dose adjustments. Common side effects include nausea, insomnia, fatigue, increased sweating, and sexual dysfunction. Elodep should not be used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within two weeks of discontinuing them. Caution is advised when discontinuing Elodep, as abrupt cessation may lead to withdrawal symptoms. It is also excreted in human breast milk; therefore, its use during breastfeeding should be considered only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
