Indications:
Zero 8 mg is indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia characterized by difficulties with sleep initiation.
Pharmacology:
Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic acting on the GABA-A receptor complex, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission and producing sedation and hypnosis.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 5 to 10 mg immediately before bedtime.
Use lowest effective dose; 8 mg typical for adult men.
Avoid use for more than 2–4 weeks due to risk of dependence.
Take orally with a full glass of water; ensure 7–8 hours of sleep time.
Interaction:
Enhanced sedative effects with CNS depressants, alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids.
Caution with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 (e.g., ketoconazole, rifampin).
Avoid concomitant use with other hypnotics unless advised by physician.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Zolpidem
Severe hepatic impairment
Respiratory depression or sleep apnea syndrome
History of substance abuse
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, headache
Gastrointestinal upset
Memory disturbances, complex sleep behaviors (sleepwalking)
Rare: Allergic reactions, mood changes
