Foli Kidz is a folic acid oral solution manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd., designed to address folate deficiency and related anemias in children and adults. Each 5 ml of the syrup contains 2.5 mg of folic acid. Folic acid is a water-soluble B-vitamin essential for DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, and overall cellular growth. It plays a critical role in preventing megaloblastic anemia, a condition characterized by the production of abnormally large and dysfunctional red blood cells. Foli Kidz is indicated for the treatment of folic acid deficiency, megaloblastic anemia, and anemias of nutritional origin, particularly during pregnancy, infancy, or childhood. The recommended dosage varies: for adults, an initial dose of 5 mg daily for 4 months is advised, followed by a maintenance dose of 5 mg every 1–7 days, depending on the underlying condition. For children, the dosage is typically 500 mcg/kg daily up to 1 year of age, and the same as the adult dose for those over 1 year. Folic acid is generally well tolerated, with rare occurrences of gastrointestinal disturbances or hypersensitivity reactions. It is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to folic acid. Pregnancy Category A indicates no risk to the fetus, and the medication is also considered safe during lactation. However, caution is advised in patients with folate-dependent tumors or those with undiagnosed megaloblastic anemia due to vitamin B12 deficiency, as folic acid supplementation alone may mask symptoms and exacerbate neurological complications. Foli Kidz should be stored below 30°C in a dry place, away from light, and out of reach of children
