Losart 25 mg, manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd., is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily to manage hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to constrict, thereby relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. This medication is also prescribed to protect kidney function in individuals with type 2 diabetes and proteinuria (excessive protein in urine). The typical starting dose is 25 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on the patient's response and condition. Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and upper respiratory infections.
