Oxecone-M is a non-systemic antacid manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd. It contains Magaldrate, a hydroxymagnesium aluminate complex that, upon contact with gastric acid, dissociates into magnesium hydroxide and aluminium hydroxide. These components provide a sustained antacid effect by neutralizing excess stomach acid.
Indications:
Oxecone-M is indicated for the symptomatic relief of:
Dyspepsia
Heartburn
Acid indigestion
Sour stomach
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Hiatal hernia
Flatulence
Hyperacidity associated with peptic ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 2 to 3 teaspoonfuls (approximately 10–15 ml) 3 to 4 times daily, half to one hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician.
Children: Half of the adult dose, or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Contraindications:
Oxecone-M should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to magnesium or aluminium compounds. It is also contraindicated in individuals with impaired renal function.
Side Effects:
Potential side effects include constipation and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: May be used during pregnancy if indicated; however, excessive dosage should be avoided.
Lactation: Magaldrate may pass into breast milk but has not been reported to cause problems in nursing infants.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
