Description
Liptor EZ 10/10 mg is a fixed-dose combination tablet manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd., combining 10 mg of atorvastatin and 10 mg of ezetimibe. This dual-action formulation is designed to manage hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia by targeting cholesterol from both production and absorption pathways. Atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, reduces cholesterol synthesis in the liver, while ezetimibe inhibits the absorption of cholesterol from the small intestine. Together, they effectively lower total cholesterol, LDL-C, triglycerides, and non-HDL-C, and increase HDL-C levels. Liptor EZ is typically administered once daily, with or without food, and is often prescribed when monotherapy with statins alone is insufficient to achieve desired lipid levels. The recommended starting dose is 10 mg/10 mg daily, with potential adjustments based on individual lipid profiles and treatment goals. Regular monitoring of liver function and muscle health is advised during treatment. This combination therapy is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, unexplained persistent elevations in liver enzymes, or during pregnancy and lactation.
