Ferocit TR 150/500 is a timed-release capsule combining 150 mg of ferrous sulfate and 0.5 mg of folic acid. Ferrous sulfate is a form of iron essential for hemoglobin production and oxygen transport in the blood. Folic acid is a B-vitamin crucial for DNA synthesis and red blood cell formation. This combination is primarily used to prevent and treat iron and folic acid deficiencies, especially during pregnancy and lactation. The timed-release formulation minimizes gastrointestinal side effects by releasing the active ingredients gradually, enhancing absorption and reducing irritation. Typically, one capsule is taken daily, preferably on an empty stomach for optimal absorption. However, some individuals may require higher doses based on dietary intake or specific health conditions. It's important to avoid taking antacids or antibiotics within 2 hours before or after this medication, as they can interfere with absorption. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and dark stools.
