Laxofit Syrup 100 ml is an oral solution formulated with Sodium Picosulfate, a stimulant laxative used to alleviate constipation in adults and children over 9 years old. It works by activating colonic bacteria to stimulate the nerve endings in the intestinal wall, promoting peristalsis and increasing water and electrolyte accumulation in the colon. This dual action softens stools and facilitates bowel movement, typically within 6 to 12 hours after ingestion. Laxofit Syrup is commonly used for short-term relief of constipation, bowel clearance before surgical or radiological procedures, and in bedridden or elderly patients. It is recommended to take the syrup at bedtime, and it should not be used for more than one week to avoid dependency. Common side effects may include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and nausea. Patients with kidney or liver conditions, or those on diuretics or corticosteroids, should consult a doctor before use. The syrup is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when prescribed by a doctor. It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration during treatment.
