Fluconal 150 mg is an antifungal medication manufactured by ACME Laboratories Ltd. in Bangladesh. It contains Fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent that inhibits fungal enzymes necessary for the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting ergosterol production, Fluconazole compromises the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, leading to cell death.
Fluconal 150 mg is indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections, including:
Vaginal candidiasis
Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis
Systemic candidiasis (e.g., candidemia, disseminated candidiasis)
Cryptococcal infections, including cryptococcal meningitis
Dermatophyte infections such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and tinea versicolor
Onychomycosis (fungal nail infections)
The recommended dosage for adults varies depending on the type and severity of the infection:
Vaginal candidiasis: 150 mg as a single dose.
Oropharyngeal candidiasis: 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg once daily for at least 2 weeks.
Esophageal candidiasis: 200 mg on the first day, followed by 100 mg once daily for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Systemic candidiasis and cryptococcal infections: 400 mg on the first day, then 200 mg once daily, increased if necessary to 400 mg daily.
Dermatophyte infections: 50 mg daily for 2–4 weeks (up to 6 weeks for tinea pedis).
Onychomycosis: 150 mg once weekly for 12 months
