FAMICLAV 250/62.5 is a combination antibiotic containing amoxicillin (250 mg) and clavulanic acid (62.5 mg). Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria, effectively treating a wide range of bacterial infections. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps protect amoxicillin from being broken down by certain bacteria that produce beta-lactamase, an enzyme that can render amoxicillin ineffective.
